Benin Republic and Senegal have booked their places in the quarter-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON) in Egypt after overcoming Morocco and Uganda on Friday.

Concise News reports that Benin Republic caused a major upset by beating one of the favourites and former winners Morocco in a penalty shootout, while Sadio Mane‘s lone goal against the Cranes was enough to land Senegal in the last eight.

Senegal and Benin will square off in the quarter-finals.

Today, Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on defending champions and five-time winners Cameroon in their last-16 duel in Alexandria.

The Eagles, three-time African champions, had won their first and second group matches to qualify for the knock-out phase before going down to AFCON debutants Madagascar in Group B.

Cameroon finished second in Group F behind Ghana after playing three matches without losing.

The winners of the clash will meet the victors of the match between hosts Egypt and South Africa, who play later in the evening.
