As Nigeria prepare to face Cameroon tomorrow (Saturday), Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has said that he would like to participate at “the biggest event in Africa” – the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Concise News reports that Uzoho has fallen down the pecking order, but he insists he has no problem with Head Coach, Gernot Rohr‘s decision.
Uzoho made his debut under Rohr in the 4-2 win over Argentina, in a pre-World Cup friendly in November 2017.
Subsequent displays earned the newly-confirmed Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus signing a run of games as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Mixed feelings yesterday for me
Happy to be back on this colors but not happy that i nearly cost my team the game 🤦🏾♂️ 🙏🏽
On to the next one to make things right 🦅

And although he had a decent showing at the World Cup, a blunder against Seychelles in the last game of the AFCON qualifiers in March, appeared to seal his fate.
Uzoho has since failed to add to his 13 caps, with Rohr picking Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa so far at the AFCON.
“No, [I’m not worried about losing my place as the first-choice goalkeeper].
“But as a footballer, this is the biggest event in Africa and I would like to participate
“But if I don’t get the chance to do that, I don’t think I have any problem. I’m fine with the coach’s decision,” Busy Buddies quotes Uzoho, 20 as saying.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria meet the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday.
The last time both countries met in a competitive game, it ended in a draw at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.
Both Nigeria and Cameroon finished second in Group B and F, behind Madagascar and Ghana respectively.
The winner of the contest will meet either host Egypt or South Africa in the quarterfinals.
