The head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Clarence Seedorf has hinted that his side is battle ready for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, as both sides clash in the round of 16 at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Concise News reports that Cameroon are the defending champions, but failed to make it to the World Cup in 2018 after a 4 -0 loss to Nigeria in Uyo dashed their hope.

However, both sides are expected to resume rivalry in a mouthwatering clash at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday and Seedorf who is debuting in AFCON for the first time, is optimistic his side has what it takes to progress to the quarter-final.

“Nigeria is a top team, with lots of quality players. It will be difficult against a good side like this, but we have what it takes to beat them.

“Our target is to successfully defend our trophy and we will fight till the end to achieve our objective,” the AC Milan legend says.

Both Nigeria and Cameroon finished second in Group B and F, behind Madagascar and Ghana respectively.

The winner of the contest will meet either host Egypt or South Africa in the quarterfinals.
