Afro-pop queen Tiwa Savage has taken to her Instagram page to say that she feels embarrassed being a Nigerian.
Concise news reports that this is coming as a result of outcries on social media platforms over alarming rates of issues affecting women.
The allegation generated outrage on social media, after which several others accused other persons of raping them.
Also, a few days after the news of Fatoyinbo’s rape allegations broke out, a video of a senator Elisha Abbo assaulting a nursing mother went viral; this, again, triggered another round of outrage from feminists across Africa’s most populous nation.
Lamenting the challenges facing women in Nigeria, Tiwa Savage expressed shame in being a Nigerian because of the way women are treated in the country.
She said: “I don’t know where we went wrong as a nation that women are treated so badly. This past week has been filled with very disturbing news towards women.”
Saying she doesn’t care whatever backlash comes after voicing out, the stunning mother of one said it was saddening that women in every sector were condemned over things men get away with.
“I personally can no longer keep quiet anymore, I have to do more than a post, ki lo de gan na, why do we deserve all these?, today I am actually embarrassed to be a Nigerian , the way women are treated is DISGUSTING,” she added.
The singer further noted that she would take necessary measures in training her son to be a real man in order to avoid treating women in a disgusting manner.
