AFCON: Super Eagles To Get N34m Each For Tournament Win
Nigeria vs Burundi: Ighalo Bails Out Super Eagles/Soar Super Eagles Twitter

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has blamed lack of opportunities for his poor scoring form at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Ighalo, the top scorer during the qualification series for the tournament, has managed just one goal for Gernot Rohr’s men in the north African country.

The team will square off with perennial rivals Cameroon in the round of 16 on Saturday.

Speaking on his play thus far, the former Watford man noted that he hardly got enough passes from his teammates.

According to him, it would be quite hard to do much in scoring goals once the passes were not coming through.

“You can count how many through passes I have got in the matches and if you don’t get passes, there is not much you can do as a striker,” he said.

On the team’s next game, he said:  “We are taking every game one at a time. We are not promising anything.

“I like it when we are written off. We have been working hard and everything will be different from the second round.”
