Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has been dropped from the Nigeria lineup that will face Guinea in a Group B 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tie on Wednesday in Alexandria.
Mikel started Nigeria’s opening group match, a 1-0 win over Burundi, but Gernot Rohr has dropped him as the side face the Syli Nationale.
Nigeria and Guinea have met 17 times, with the three-time African champions winning five, drawing seven and losing five.

Meanwhile, Guinea midfielder Naby Keita has noted that his side must be “aggressive” when they take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tie in Egypt.
However, Keita who features for European champions Liverpool has said the game against Nigeria, Wednesday, will not be taken with levity.
Keita said his team will give everything to ensure they get all three points at stake in the clash with the three-time African champions.
”I think we have to play forward and we have to try to play with aggression. In this kind of tournament, do not give the opportunity to the opponent,” he said, Tuesday.
“We need to throw everything into the match against Nigeria in order for us to win and remain in the competition.”
