The Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says the state of healthcare facilities has worsened the death toll following a suicide bomb attack in Mandarari village of Konduga Local Government Area.
The Director Rescue Operations of the agency, Usman Kachalla, made this known to Channels Television on Monday.
Kachalla noted that the death toll would have been minimized considerably if health institutions were upgraded and operating maximally.
According to him, most of those who lost their lives were evacuated from the scene of the explosion alive.
However, on getting to the General hospital Konduga, some of them bled to death as a result of lack of personnel and facilities.
The State Governor, Babagana Umara, who visited some of the survivors at the hospital, noted that there is a need to strengthen the health systems to complement the contribution of donor agencies.
