The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) says the nullification of elections of all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara by the Supreme Court is historic, courageous and victory for democracy.
Concise News reports that spokesperson for the CUPP , Ikenga Ugochinyere, said that the CUPP was excited about Friday’s verdict.
The Supreme Court on Friday invalidated the participation of APC in the last Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections in the northwest state.
Justice Paul Galinji, in delivering the lead judgment, held that the APC and all its candidates that participated in the elections gate-crashed, because the party did not conduct lawful primaries.
“We are grateful that there are still people in the judiciary willing to do the right thing and defend the will of Nigerians,” Ugochinyere said in a statement.
“Opposition Coalition also sends congratulatory message to the new Governor-elect, Dr Bello Muhammad Mutawalle, senators, House of Representatives and State Assembly-elects on PDP platform for the victory.”
