The Super Falcons of Nigeria have clinched the 2019 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup after beating Ivory Coast 5-4 on penalty shoot-out on Saturday.

Concise News understands that normal and extra-time for the encounter ended 1-1 thus leading to the shoot-out.

Ivory Coast had taken the lead in the 43rd minute of the encounter via Ange Koko N’Guessan.

However, in the fourth minute of added time in the second half, Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu drew Nigeria level.

Nigeria had claimed a semi-final win over Ghana after a penalty shoot-out, 4-2 and scored 23 goals; conceded 2 in the competition.

Also, they bashed Burkina Faso 5-1, mauled the Niger Republic 15-0, defeated Mali 2-0 and defeated Ghana on penalties after a 0-0 draw in their earlier matches.

The team will fly back into the country on Sunday afternoon.
