JAMB Slammed For Update On Checking 2019 UTME Results On Portal
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been criticised for directing candidates to check their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2019 results on the board’s portal after previously checking via SMS.
Concise News reports that stakeholders are displeased that after charging candidates to check their result the first time, they are directed to check their scores online again.
A Tweet on Thursday from the verified handle of the examination body, instructing candidates to “Check UTME Examination Results” on JAMB portal elicited furious reactions from commentators.
JAMB Issues Fresh Update On Checking 2019 UTME Results On Portal
Concise News understands that, at the time of publishing this report, more than 1.5 million candidates that sat for the examination in April had accessed their results using the result checker code 55019.
“Candidates can now check their results on the portal,” a spokesman for the examination body, Fabian Benjamin, told NAN.
“They must first log in their profile and then, click on ‘check UTME Examination Results’.”
The spokesman dismissed rumours that the result checker code was not functional.
JAMB had on Saturday, May 11, announced the release of 1,792,719 results, with the examination body’s Registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede saying that due to various infractions the board withheld the results of 34,120 candidates.
The Registrar also said that 15,145 of the aforementioned results were withheld for further clarification.
More than 1.8 million candidates sat for the 2019 UTME from April 11 to April 18.
