US Embassy Suspends ‘Drop Box’ Visa Issuance Option For Nigerians
Approximately a year after Concise News gathered that US Embassy in Nigeria was allegedly revoking and cancelling valid visas of travelers who obtained their US visas by ‘dropbox’, the embassy has finally suspended the option altogether. A credible source who craved anonymity informed Concise of the latest development today Tuesday. The source lamented how his application for US visa by dropbox which commenced in March was not treated in the usual 45-day period dropbox visa applications take, only for the interview waiver to be suspended without notice.
US Embassy Clarifies Decision To Suspend ‘Drop Box’ Process For Visa Renewals In Nigeria
The US Embassy in Nigeria late on Tuesday clarified its decision to suspend interview waivers for visa renewals aka ‘Drop Box’ process few hours after Concise broke the news of drop box suspension earlier in the day. In an unsigned press statement issued by the US embassy on its website on Tuesday the US embassy and consulate said that taking this step is to be able to provide more efficient customer service and promote legitimate travel planning to visit the United States, assuring that those who have already submitted their passports via “Dropbox” to DHL for processing either at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, or the Consulate General in Lagos, will not be impacted by this change.
FG Abolishes Degree-HND Dichotomy In Civil Defence, Immigration
The Nigerian government has abolished the dichotomy between holders of Bachelor’s Degree and those with Higher National Diploma (HND) in all the Services under the Ministry of Interior, Concise News has learned. According to the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB), Al-Hassan Yakmut, the approval was given after the board’s meeting on 9th and 10th of May.
