Youths Kill Notorious Criminal In Benue

Angry youths in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue, have reportedly killed a notorious criminal known as “One Man Squad.

Concise News gathered that before the death of the criminal, he had terrorised Gboko community.

Spokesman of Benue Police Command, DSP. Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident to the on Saturday in a telephone in Makurdi.

She said that the incident took place on Friday evening in Gboko, but added that police was yet to properly identify him, his real name or place of origin.

One Man Squad, who operates alone, had allegedly committed a lot of atrocities in the community and his death according to residents, will bring a big sigh of relief to them.

The criminal before his death robbed all category of persons and businesses including roadside food sellers.

An eye witness of the mob action who preferred anonymity said that One Man Squad was “carrying out his usual armed robbery operation in Gboko town and upon sighting SARS, took to his heels but luck ran out on him as the youths went after him and killed him.

“He is called One Man Squad because he operates alone. He has caused so much damage and pain to so many Gboko people. His death is a big sigh of relief to all of us,” the eye witness said.

Taraba LGA Chairman Makes Allegation Against ‘Benue People’

The Caretaker Chairman of Wukari LGA, Daniel Adi has alleged that the killers in fresh attacks by suspected Tiv militias on Jukun villages in Taraba State “are coming from Benue State and is like the Benue State government is fighting Wukari Local Government in particular.”

Concise News reports that at least five persons have been reportedly killed in the attack.

Adi divulges that about 11 persons are still missing as a result of the attacks which happened on Friday morning.

Local officials say they occurred in Rafinkada and Kente in Wukari in the southern part of the state.

The tragic turn of events came barely two weeks after the deputy governors of Taraba and Benue states met in Wukari after which they issued a communiqué that the crisis between the two groups had been resolved.

Confirming the attacks, Adi, says the attackers also set ablaze many houses in Rafinkada and Kente.

“Rafinkada and Kente were on fire this morning and five people are suspected to have been killed by the Tiv militias. The casualty figures may rise.

“All these people are coming from Benue State and is like the Benue State government is fighting Wukari Local Government in particular.”

Adi urges the Federal Government to intervene and warn Benue people to stop trespassing into “our lands and fighting us in Wukari.’’
