Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Saturday said the examination body withheld results of 34,120 candidates that sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) due to various infractions.
JAMB registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede made this known while announcing the release of the results on Saturday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
It was also learned that 15,145 of the results were withheld for further clarification.
This news medium understands that more than 1.8 million candidates sat the 2019 UTME from April 11 to April 18.
But JAMB did not release the results as early as many had expected, with candidates getting apprehensive.
The examination body had, however, explained that it wanted to first screen the entire candidates’ results to weed out those who were involved in any form of malpractice during the examination.
