Yesterday, Liverpool performed magic, albeit in football.

It was a repeat of the 2005 final of the Champions League when the Reds led by Rafa Benitez came from three goals down to beat AC Milan.

Like 2005, the English side once more showed character and resilience to silence critics on Tuesday.

The show ended 4-0 to give Jurgen Klopp’s charges a 4-3 win on aggregate.

The first leg of the semi-final tie had ended 3-0 in Barca’s favour at the Nou Camp.

As expected, Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, was in devastating form in the first leg of the encounter.

The Argentine forward was instrumental as the Blaugrana shipped three goals past Virgil van Dirk-marshaled defence.

He bagged a brace, one of them a curly free-kick that beat record goal-keeper signing, Alison, in that game.

Even during the 4-0 aggregate defeat that Barca handed to Old Trafford side Manchester United, Lionel Messi‘s role in the win was felt.

The 2008 Olympic gold medalist scored two goals in the return fixture in Spain.

However, at the Anfield, the 31-year-old could not perform his magic leaving some fans wondering if it was Nollywood screen diva “Messi” Aigbe that featured in the game.

Messi, since joining Barcelona’s senior team in 2012, has notched a whopping 600 goals in 683 matches.

Some fans believe that Barca’s form has dipped in recent times and they have been heavily reliant on the multiple-Ballon d’Or winner to rescue them.

At 31, which means age is quickly catching up on Messi, how would Barca fare without him?

Is the team even heavily-dependent on Messi’s form?
