Meanwhile, Enyimba extended their unbeaten run in the league to 12 games following a 3-1 humiliation of Rangers in an Oriental derby at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba.

Despite losing their last three games in the league, Rangers still lead Group A, two points ahead of second-placed Peoples Elephant.

At the Agege Stadium, Lagos, MFM edged out Rivers United 1-0 with reliable forward Chijoke Akuneto scoring the winning goal in the fifth minute.
