According to him,  the preacher, who is a member of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), was misled by newspaper reports that he (Adeboye) had begun a bank and based his prediction on that premise.

He noted that he was, then, invited by a group of investors who just started a bank to come and pray before the bank starts operation.

“When they made that request, I told them I had no money to open with. But the men decided to open the account with their own money which was a sum of N50,000,”  the cleric noted.

“But shortly after the event, newspapers came out with a report that I had started a bank with the sum of N50million. The news was everywhere.”

He added that “Since I had started a bank, in not too long a time, the Lord would call me home the way Archbishop Idahosa was called home. I just kept quiet. I did not say anything. People were urging me to react. I refused.”

Adeboye stated that the man who gave the prophecy had long died saying “God has not allowed the prophecy to come to pass.”
