Benue’s Ortom Meets With Wike In Port Harcourt

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Thursday met with his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt. Concise News reports it was a one-day visit by Governor Ortom to Rivers State. The two Governors discussed various ways of collaboration for good governance. Areas of significant interest for discussion included the current security challenge in Benue State, rural development, agriculture and power supply. It was the first formal meeting between the two Governors since they emerged victorious at the 2019 election.

Benue: Tradermoni, Marketmoni Disbursements Continue

The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP) of the Bank of Industry (BOI) has bridged the gap of the amount of time it takes for Nigerians to access loan through its interest-free loan products: Tradermoni, Marketmoni and Farmermoni. In Benue state, loan disbursements continue. Concise News reports that women have been able to access these loan products through market clusters in the case of Tradermoni and market cooperatives in the case of Marketmoni. These market structures help to keep the women accountable as they receive the loans, put it to good use in their businesses while repaying over a convenient time frame. Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Benue State chapter, has said it returned Governor Samuel Ortom to power because of how he handled the issue of unpaid salaries in the state. He explains that it would also be easier to tackle the issue of unpaid salaries with the Ortom administration instead than another government.

Benue State Govt Finally Makes Decision On N30, 000 New Minimum Wage

The Benue State Government has agreed to pay the N30,000 new minimum wage to its workers. Concise News reports that speaking at the 2019 workers day celebration in Makurdi on Wednesday, Governor Samuel Ortom says the government would soon meet with the labour body in the state to look into the implementation of the new minimum wage.
