1. Buhari’s Daura District Head Kidnapped

The Magajin Garin Daura, Musa Umar, has been abducted by unknown gunmen in his Daura residence in Katsina State.  Daily Nigerian reports that Umar, a retired customs comptroller, was abducted after observing Maghrib prayer. The traditional ruler is the father of Fatima Musa, wife of Colonel Mohammed Abubakar, the Aide de Camp, ADC, to President Muhammadu Buhari.

2. Workers Day: Buhari Speaks On N30,000 Minimum Wage Implementation

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration will fully implement the new N30,000 minimum wage. Concise News learned that the Nigerian leader made this known on Wednesday in his message to mark the 2019 Workers’ Day celebration.

Former Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the opposition PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for securing the release of Zainab Aliyu who was arrested in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking. The acting inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed him to commence the implementation of community policing strategy across the country immediately. He made this disclosure during a meeting of the forum of northern traditional rulers on Tuesday in Kaduna, where critical security issues were discussed.

5. May Day 2019: Orji Uzor Kalu Tells Govt What To Do For Workers

A former governor of Abia State and senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged government at all levels to improve the welfare of workers in order to boost productivity. Kalu gave the advice in a statement issued on Wednesday by his media office to commemorate the 2019 May Day and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria.

6. IGP Adamu Orders Redeployment Of Kaduna Police Chief, Others

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command, CP Ahmed Abdulrahman to the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He also directed the CP Aji Ali Janga, who until now was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Bauchi State, to take over as the new helmsman in Kaduna Command. The Police spokesman,  DCP Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.

7. May Day: Labour Cautions FG On Rising Debt Profile

Organised labour has again cautioned the Federal Government on the nation’s rising debt profile, resulting from the government’s unsaturated appetite for borrowing and foreign loans. The President of the United Labour Congress (ULC), Joe Ajaero, gave the warning on Wednesday when he led hundreds of workers to mark May Day at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

8. Okorocha Petitions INEC Over Withholding Certificate Of Return

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over withholding his certificate of return for the Imo West Senatorial District. Okorocha urged the chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, to release his certificate of return without delay and not to set a bad precedence by withholding his certificate after he had been declared winner of the election.
