The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man who set ablaze nine members of his estranged girlfriend’s family in Igbodigo, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the State.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Femi Joseph confirmed the arrest on Monday in Akure.
According to Joseph, the suspect, Deji Adenuga, was arrested under a bridge, along Lagos/Benin Expressway in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State and would be paraded on Tuesday at the command’s headquarters, Akure, the state capital.
Adenuga is said to be one of the inmates that escaped from the Olokuta Prison in Akure, Ondo State during the prison break that occurred in 2013.
Concise News recalls that Adenuga, popularly known as Davar was angered after his girlfriend, Titi Sanumi, left him.
This prompted him to set the house on fire, but Titi was not at home during the incident.
He also noted that five of the victims have been confirmed dead but added that police are on Adenuga’s trail.
“Nine family members, who were occupants of a house were set ablaze in their one-room apartment at Adetuwo Street in Igbodigho yesterday (Tuesday).” Joseph had said.
Joseph said that the suspect fled the community after committing the crime.
