Arguably the best footballer to ever grace earth, Lionel Messi has won a lot of trophies in his career and the Argentine has now racked up 34 at Barcelona: Ten La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, six Copa del Reys, eight Supercopa de Espana crowns, three European Super Cups and three Club World Cups. But Messi still has not reached Ryan Giggs numbers regarding one record.
Concise News reports that with his latest triumph, guiding Barcelona to success in the La Liga following the win over Levante, Messi is closing in on a record held only by former Manchester United ace Ryan Giggs. The Welshman is the only player in history to win 36 titles with the same club, playing at Old Trafford from 1990/91 to 2014.
Giggs won 13 Premier Leagues, ten Community Shields, four League Cups, four FA Cups, two Champions Leagues, one European Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and a Club World Cup.
Messi can draw level with the Premier League legend this season by winning the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
However, the Barca captain must wait another few years to become the most decorated player of all time, with Dani Alves holding 42 titles from his time at Bahia, Sevilla, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian national team.
