Southampton striker Shane Long broke former Tottenham defender Ledley King fastest English Premier League goal record after scoring 7.69 seconds to the start of the match against Watford on Tuesday night.
Tottenham defender Ledley King holds the fastest goal record of 9.82 seconds against Bradford City in December 2000.
That mark was overtaken by Long on Tuesday night as he found the net straight from kick-off against Watford.
The Hornets began the match and the ball was rolled back to centre-back Craig Cathcart. However, as he tried to play it forward, his clearance was blocked by Long.
The striker was then clean through on goal with only Ben Foster to beat and he made no mistake as he slid the ball past the Watford goalkeeper.
Many supporters at Vicarage Road were not in their seats when Long found the net for the third time in his last four top-flight appearances.
