At least four people have been confirmed dead while 23 others sustained varying degrees of injury in six road accidents that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, during the Easter celebration.
Concise News learnt that about 34 males and 16 females were involved in the accidents that were recorded on the highway between Sunday and Monday.
According to the Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, in a statement in Abeokuta blamed the accidents on speeding.
Okpe revealed that the first crash involved a truck and a Toyota bus, adding that about 20 people were involved in the accident.
She said the second accident was a lone accident which involved a Nissan car with number plate, APP863 EF.
Okpe said the third accident involved nine persons and only six of them sustained injuries.
She said, “The fourth accident involved two motorcycles.
“Four persons sustained injuries and were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.
“The fifth accident was between two motorcycles. Three of them were injured and one died,” she said.
Meanwhile, the sixth accident, which was reported by the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, claimed the lives of two persons on Monday on the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway.
