Northern Forum Pick Senate President, Write Oshiomhole
Senate President: Buhari, APC Leaders Pacify Top Ahmad Lawan’s Challenger

The North East Consultative Forum (NECF) has endorsed Senator Danjuma Goje for the position of Senate President in Nigeria’s ninth National Assembly.

Concise News understands that the forum and five other groups in the North East called on the former Jigawa state governor to vie for the position after they held an emergency meeting at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi, on Wednesday.

It was learned that the North East Elders Mobilisation Forum, APC National Youth Caucus, Borno Discussion Circle, Gombe Political Associations and North East Youth Awareness for Good Governance make up the five other groups.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had said there was no going back on its decision to make Senator Ahmed Lawan the President of the 9th Senate.

But these groups said after a thorough assessment of the three contenders for the Senate Presidency from the North East, Goje, who head the Senate Appropriations Committee, should man the position.

To this end, they wrote a letter dated April 17 to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on their endorsement of Goje.

The Amalgamated Youths from the North-East had on 4 April called on Senator Goje to publicly declare his intention to run for the 9th Senate Presidency.

Led by one Bello Ambo from Bauchi state, the group thronged the entrance of the National Assembly with banners carrying different inscriptions asking Goje to declare for the position.
