Nasarawa Lawmakers React To Killing Of 17 Persons By Gunmen

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Thursday, has condemned the Sunday night shootings that took 17 lives in Numa, a rural community in Akwanga Local Government.

Concise News reports that the Assembly has urged the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to the House Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who also called for peaceful coexistence among the people, urging them to crave and promote mutual love and tolerance.

The lawmakers sympathized with the Mada nation and the entire people of Akwanga Local Government over the ugly incident and appealed to the affected community to leave vengeance to God and allow the law to take its course.

Abdullahi said, ”Noting that no society could achieve meaningful progress without peace,” he described the incident as unfortunate and prayed against a recurrence.

Confirming the incident, Mohammed Akira, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), disclosed that the command had mobilized its men to the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
