Mauricio Pochettino and his players celebrated wildly at the Etihad changing room after the London club ousted Manchester City to progress to their first Champions League semi-finals and first in Europe for 57 years.
Pochettino celebrated with staff and players, bursting in fist-pumping and slamming the whiteboard as the players celebrated with a chant of ‘Oh Moussa Sissoko”.
Spurs set up a semi-final clash with Ajax after VAR ruled out a late Raheem Sterling winner in one of the most exhilarating games the competition has ever seen.
It wasn’t until a member of Tottenham staff came into the changing room that the Frenchman discovered they had booked a place in the Champions League last four.
After cooling down a little, Pochettino said of his players: “I think they are heroes. All that happened this season, the circumstances, to be in the semi-final of the Champions League, they deserve a lot of praise and big rewards.”
