Lionel Messi bagged a brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 bashing of United in the second leg of the Champions League tie.
The Spanish team thus advanced to the semi-final of the competition on 4-0 aggregate.
Sanchez returned from a knee injury he sustained six weeks ago and came on for Jesse Lingard in the 80th minute during United’s defeat to Barcelona.
Speaking after the match, the Chilean hailed Barcelona and Lionel Messi for their stellar showing in the game.
“They [Barcelona] played very well,” Sanchez told Metro UK. “We had very clear chances, but this is football, this is the Champions League.
“If you get something wrong or fail, then the other team gets on top of you. That’s what Barcelona do.”
He admitted that “the first goal was a very nice goal. Leo is Leo, we all know what we can do.
“It’s the same as always. Leo, he is very happy at Barca. He maintains this high level of performance and the team is also playing well. Messi is Messi”
