Governor Yahaya Bello’s Kogi State, as well as five others, will benefit from the $200 million World Bank Agro intervention project, Concise News reports.

Aside from Kogi State, this online news medium understands that Lagos, Kano, Cross River, Kaduna and Enugu states have been earmarked for the project.

The project is aimed at improving agro-processing, productivity and livelihood and is in sync with the Agricultural Promotion Policy on food security, local production, job creation and economic diversification.

This is as the project is to improve the agricultural productivity of small and medium scale farmers.

This will be done via backing farmers’ productivity and their linkage to markets. The intervention will facilitate agricultural production and Cashew processing.

The intervention project targets 10,000 direct beneficiaries and 50, 000 indirect beneficiaries in Kogi State.

Also, 35 per cent of the beneficiaries will be women just as 5 – 10 per cent of the will be people who have disabilities.
