United beat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-1 in France and reach the quarter-finals on away goals, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s last-gasp penalty.

On the other hand, Barcelona saw off French side Lyon 5-1 on aggregate in the last 16 of the competition.

Man United Vs Barcelona? What Are The Players Saying?

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique:

“I watched both their games,” said Pique. “Here [at Old Trafford], I think PSG played better and in the second half they scored and they could have scored some goals.

”But you cannot leave Manchester United alive. If you can beat them by scoring a lot of goals you have to do it, because they have a great team and have great history.

“United showed in the second leg in Paris, even though they played with a lot of young lads from the Academy, they won and they qualified in the last minute with a penalty.

“It’s a great example for us. We have to concentrate from the first minute to the last minute of the tie.

“We know Manchester United are very dangerous and we have to play our best game to qualify.”

Jesse Lingard Manchester United

“I don’t think I have [experienced this] myself,” he told Man United website.

“It’s a new experience with more pressure but we’re ready to handle that and ready to relish these big games.

”I think that is where sometimes we might have lacked a little bit – in belief and confidence to think we can win this game.

“We’ve done it in the past, beaten good teams in the past, so I think, going into every game, we should be 100 per cent confident of winning.

“We’ve got to believe. We’ve got to have that faith we can go even further and as far as we can in the competition.

“Anything is possible. We’ve got to believe. We have that self-confidence to go out and win games.

”I mean I enjoy the big games. We’re Manchester United so we take these big games and look at them tactically, try to find their weaknesses and go and try to exploit them. Like I’ve said, we take it all in and just enjoy big games and go out to play with a smile on our faces.”

Marcos Rojo United Defender

“Look what happened with Paris Saint-Germain,” Rojo told MUTV. “We went over there, apparently without any chance whatsoever, people were saying it was a given that PSG were going through and then everyone saw what then happened.

”You should never write anyone off out of hand. Of course, Barcelona have huge experience of playing in lots of finals and semi-finals in the Champions League for a good few years now.

“But we have our own strengths too, and we have to know how to make the best use of them.

“Of course, they will be favourites to go through but we are going to give everything we’ve possibly got to ensure that we go through.

“For me, after Paris, everything changed, I reckon that all the teams in Europe are now starting to look at us differently and to show us a little bit more respect because this is a great club with so much history and I reckon that in these games that counts for a lot.

“And I don’t think there’s any team out there who really wants to come to Old Trafford to play United.

“In fact, I’m sure of that, so we have a lot of things in our favour, like being at home in front of our own fans to give us the chance to take a lead over there.”

Chris Smalling Man United

“All our draws this season – be it FA Cup or Champions League – we don’t have the easy draws, and we thrive off playing big teams like that,“ said the 29-year-old.

“After the PSG game, we know that we can go away to the big teams and get results. We’re just looking forward to it. Let’s take it on.”
