NPFL Shocker: Wikki Beat Rivers United In Port Harcourt

Wikki Tourists recorded a shocking 2-1 win over hosts Rivers United in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game played on Sunday in Port Harcourt.

The Bauchi Elephant, who last won on the road on 5 June, 2016, stunned their hosts with two first-half goals in the Group A face-off.

Saidu Abdullahi netted the opener in the 16th minute, before Hassan Musa doubled the lead in the 24th minute.

But Ossy Martins pulled one back before half time.

With this result, Wikki, on 15 points are fifth, while Rivers drop to the ninth spot.

Elsewhere, Rangers thrashed Remo Stars 5-2 to move to third, while struggling Remo have relegation issues to think about.

In Aba, Enyimba moved within three points of leaders MFM FC in Group B by edging out hard-fighting Sunshine Stars 2-1.

Dare Olatunji opened the scoring in the 29th minute, while Ifeanyi Anaemena made it 2-0 in the 70th minute, before Israel Abia pulled a goal back for Sunshine Stars.

In Uyo, Akwa United took charge of Group B with 22 points from 12 games by defeating Heartland 1-0.

Cyril Olisema scored the winning goal from the spot, four minutes after the hour mark.

In Ilorin, Segun Alebiosu’s 35th minute strike gave Kwara United a 1-0 win over Katsina United, while champions Lobi Stars fought from two goals down to draw 2-2 at  Niger Tornadoes.
