Philippe Coutinho showed signs of promise as Barcelona beat Lyon on Wednesday evening to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and the Brazilian was pleased with his own performance.
Concise News reports that it has not been an easy season for the midfielder and he had received criticism from the Camp Nou faithful on a number of occasions this term, but he acknowledges himself that his level has not been at the required standard.
“I haven’t been playing well in recent weeks or months,” Coutinho admits after the game.
“But I want to keep improving.
“I came to Barcelona to do my best.
Satisfied with his performance against Lyon, Coutinho is looking forward to getting back to action at the weekend.
“Now I’m thinking about the next match,” he says.
“I’m very happy to have won and to have qualified in what was a very important match.”
