Commissioner of Police in Imo state, Dasuki Galadanchi, has vowed to prosecute party agents who tore INEC result sheets in Imo state, southeast Nigeria.
Concise News had reported that collation of governorship election results was suspended in Imo due to violence that erupted at the collation centre.
Addressing the press after the incident, the police chief said the three persons identified have been arrested and would face the wrath of the law.
On his part, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Francis Ezeonu, said that he was not under any pressure to release any result.
He said that despite the fight, which led to party agents tearing result sheets, collation would still go on.
It was learned that PDP, AA, AD and RP agents reportedly tore the governorship election result sheets for Ideato South, the local government area of Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The Peoples Democratic Party and some other party agent protested the announcement of the results, claiming it was manipulated to favour Okorocha’s preferred candidate, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance.
