Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC, said Buhari, who vied for re-election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat PDP’s Atiku, who got 11,262,978 votes.
But the PDP candidate has since rejected the result of the election, claiming it was manipulated.
Speaking on Thursday at a dinner in Daura, Buhari’s hometown, to celebrate the victory of her husband, Aisha stressed that the constitution of the party specifies that appointments to offices in an APC-led government should go to card-carrying members.
Concise News learned that the event took place at the Daura Stadium, and attracted women and youth supporters of the party in the northwest state.
The wife of the president expressed appreciation over the support that the party enjoyed, especially from women and youth, in the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“I wish to thank the women and youth of this country for the number of votes they gave President Buhari in the 2019 election and to assure that he will continue to do his best to make Nigeria a better country.”
Also at the event was Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, who praised the electorate for choosing Buhari.
He assured them that the second tenure will result in development in all their endeavours.
Also in attendance were the wife of the Governor of Katsina state, Zakiyya Masari, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, and wife of Minister of Interior, Hadiza Dambazau.
