Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Akwa United star, Ubong Friday has joined Armenian club, Lori FC.

Concise News reports that Friday is one of the longest-serving players at his hometown club, Akwa United.

The winger featured at the 2017 WAFU Cup in Ghana where the home-based Super Eagles reached the championship final.

He was not in the Akwa United squad that drew 2-2 away at Gombe United in The Promise Keepers’ last match.

Lori FC are currently placed fifth in the Armenian top flight with 26 points from 18 games played.

At Lori FC, Friday, 21, teams up with his compatriots including former Akwa Starlets defender, Ekereuke Ekemini. He is handed jersey number 20.

Other Nigerians presently in the club which is in the mountainous Caucasus region between Asia and Europe are Isah Aliyu, Etop Udoh, Sunday Ingbede, Deou Dosa and Ugochukwu Iwu.

Originally founded in 1936, Lori has participated in the domestic football competition of Soviet Armenia. After retiring from professional football in 2002, the club was revived in 2017 winning the 2017–18 Armenian First League competition.
