Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has revealed the club’s first-choice goalkeeper following the Kepa Arrizabalaga incident.
Concise News reports that the Italian claims that Arrizabalaga remains his number one despite heaping praise upon Willy Caballero.
The 23-year-old has been placed under immense scrutiny after his refusal to be substituted off in the League Cup final.
Caballero replaced the Spaniard against Spurs but Kepa returned against Fulham on Sunday – a match Chelsea won.
“Kepa is our first-choice goalkeeper.
“But we are very happy for Willy because now we know very well that he’s able to play in a very difficult match.
“So I don’t know: I’m sure that in one of the next two matches, Kepa will be on the pitch.”
Caballero’s behaviour during the controversy surrounding Arrizabalaga has prompted Chelsea FC to offer the Argentine a new contract, according to the Telegraph.
He has been praised for his response to the young Spanish goalkeeper’s refusal to be replaced against Manchester City.
Caballero was drafted in against Tottenham Hotspur to replace the sanctioned Arrizabalaga and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Chelsea have now been handed further reaffirmation to offer Caballero a new 12-month contract.
With his deal due to expire in the summer, the west London club had already made plans to get him to recommit.
However, the way in which the 37-year-old has handled the Arrizabalaga-saga has impressed club officials.
