A man on Saturday stabbed his friend to death and injured one other while arguing about the biggest club football rivalry in the world – El Clasico.
Concise News reports that the incident happened at Yakassai quarters in Kano Municipal area of Kano State.
Just as an intense rivalry exists between the two Spanish giants so does it, sometimes, exist among their supporters in Kano and other parts of Nigeria.
After the match, an argument ensued between Salisu Mohammad and his friend, Mustapha Musa, about the game.
At the time of publishing this report, it was still unclear what caused the argument that led to the unfortunate incident.
Kano state – and some other part of Northern Nigeria – is home to many Real Madrid supporters.
Abdullahi Haruna, the police spokesperson in Kano, told journalists that during the argument, Mohammad stabbed his friend and another person with a knife.
Haruna said Musa was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano and was pronounced dead by a doctor. The other victim is responding to treatment at the same hospital.
The police spokesperson said the suspect was arrested with the knife, adding that he would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
