A former governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has won the Benue North East senate seat under the umbrella the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Concise News gathered that Suswam got 148, 645 votes to defeat incumbent Senator Barnabas Gemade of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 32, 534 votes and All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Mimi Adzape-Orubibi who polled 81, 603.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) Returning Officer in the district Shaato Rufus, announced the result at the INEC office in Kastina-Ala.

A further breakdown of the result showed that the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Joseph Akaagerger had 8, 099 votes to fourth position in the race.
