Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia have displaced Enugu Rangers at No. 2 in Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup, with both teams having a point short of group leaders CS Sfaxien – another Tunisia clubside.
Concise News reports that Iheb Msakni and Saddam Ben Aziza gave the North Africans their first win in the group phase of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup and ruined Enugu Rangers’ eight-game unbeaten run with a 2-1 triumph on Sunday.
A dogged Rangers looked as though they would earn an away win after taking the lead through Bright Silas in the 15th minute. But the tide would later turn against the Aiteo Cup holders.
The hosts levelled matters through Msakni in the 35 minutes and Gbenga Ogunbote’s men were caught on the break in the second half as Ben Aziza sealed victory, inflicting a first defeat on Rangers for the first time in the competition this term.
With this result, the Flying Antelopes drop to third in Group B. However, they would be hoping to regroup when they host Etoile du Sahel in the reverse fixture on Sunday, March 3.
