Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi met with Arsene Wenger last week amid increasing rumours the former Arsenal tactician could take up a role in the French capital.

Concise News reports that according to L’Equipe (via Mirror), Al-Khelaifi hosted Wenger in his private box at the WTA Doha Tournament recently. The meeting sparked further insinuations the erstwhile Arsenal man could be in line to replace Antero Henrique as PSG’s sporting director. Wenger was in Doha fulfilling his obligations to beIN SPORTS, as a pundit for the Champions League knockout rounds.

Earlier this month, The Times reported that Wenger was ready to return to football and had four different job offers. One of those is believed to be from PSG, and it appears to be the one he was most likely to take.

Le10Sport writes that the Ligue 1 club have reached ‘the point of no return’ with current director Henrique. UOL Sport claims they have heard reports from insiders in PSG of irritation at the job the former FC Porto man is doing.

Additionally, it is speculated that Henrique ‘already lives with the shadow of Arsene Wenger’.

Even before that, reports suggested the ex-Arsenal boss had met with head coach Thomas Tuchel to discuss matters related to the club.

The saga is really starting to drag on at this point, as Wenger continues to push back the deadline for his next move in football management. It was the start of this term, then the end of the year, and now we are almost in March without a clear direction.

Hopefully, the coast will get clearer and football fans will get some clarification on the 69-year-old’s future soon. But in the meantime, it is good he is getting to enjoy some time away from football.
