Former Aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has alleged that the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) is planning with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stagger the presidential and National Assembly election scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23.

He said that the APC having realised that it can’t win the election are desperate, hence the move for staggered election.

Commenting through his Twitter handle, Omokri, who said that INEC may make an announcement today, urged Nigerians to prepare to resist such move peacefully.

He wrote: “Just got a call from an insider. The @MBuhari cabal and @INECNigeria are planning STAGGERED Elections. They know they can’t win. This is their desperate last card. They may make an announcement today. Nigerians prepare to resist peacefully.”

The presidential and National Assembly election was initially scheduled to take last Saturday, Feb. 16, but was rescheduled by INEC to Feb. 23 due to logistic failures. Since then, both the ruling APC and opposition PDP have been trading blames against each other over who masterminded the shift.
