President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that he will probe the $16bn spent on failed power project by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government.
Buhari who made the promise on Tuesday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally, also said he will expose those involved in the scheme.
According to him, “The previous government mentioned on their own that they spent $16bn on power but you are better witnesses than myself.
“Where is the power? Where is the money? We will follow them, eventually God willing, we will catch them and get our money back.”
In addition, President Buhari expressed hopes that his government is fighting corruption and insecurity despite the challenges.
He noted that his administration will continue to do its best to reposition the economy to make the country self-reliant.
Nigeria will hold its presidential elections on February 16th with Buhari and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the major contestants.
