The Independent National Electoral Commission’s offices in the 27 local government areas of Imo state have been crowded by residents who want to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of Saturday’s elections.
Concise News gathered that the resident struggled at the INEC collation centre at Umuelemai in the Isiala Mbano LGA to collect their PVCs.
The commission’s returning officer in the LGA, Emeka Okike, said he was confident that those who came to collect their PVCs would get them.
Okike said, “We are ready and we will attend to everyone.
“The people here are not up to 2, 000 and we have mapped out plans to make sure that the collation process is smooth.
“Isiala Mbano has 12 wards and I have workers at every point to make it easier for people to collect their PVCs according to their wards.”
Our correspondent observed that the PVCs of those who applied for the change of polling units were not ready in the LGA.
The INEC officer said, “We have checked and they are not out and that is the truth. The PVCs are not printed in Nigeria. We are busy giving out the ones here.”
