The Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, trooped out to the streets to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari.
Some APC chieftains in the state mounted the streets with buses calling on people to give the Buhari/Yemi Osibanjo campaign team a royal welcome.
The event will take place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere with the APC promising to make the campaign rally the best so far in the country.
Concise News gathered that in the early hours of the day, free buses were seen taking members of the party to the venue of the event.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Ladi Lawanson, in a statement on Friday said normal activities will not be restricted in the state.
He noted that Lagos roads will not be closed during the event in the commercial city.
Lawanson, however, warned people to avoid routes leading to the venue of the campaign rally.
This statement came shortly after Lagos State government, announced on Wednesday that some roads will be partly or fully closed for Buhari’s visit.
The areas which were billed to be closed are: National Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium, Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lawanson/Itire Road/Tejuosho Road, Apapa Road Costain, Abebe Vi llage/Eric Moore Road, Eko Bridge/Apongbon, Marina Road, Ikorodu Road, Mobolaji Bank AnthonyWay, Old Toll Gate/Third Mainland Bridge/Obalende, International Airport Road, Oshodi-Oworonshoki Expressway,Agege Motor Road, Jibowu, Yaba-Muritala Mohammed Way Iddo/Otto, Herbert Macaulay Way – Adekunle, Ijora Olopa/Ijora
Meanwhile, along Stadium routes in the early hours of Saturday, movement of vehicles were restricted along some parts of the roads.
Also, some security personnel were seen along the roads to forestall any criminal activity.
