Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, on Friday Defeated the host nation, Niger Republic 1-0 to secure the much world cup ticket and also booking a place in the semi-final.
Adamu Alhassan scored the only goal that helped the Flying Eagles land Poland 2019 ticket.
The flying Eagles broke the deadlock from a sumptuous freekick in the 73rd-minute.
Meanwhile, the coach of the side, Paul Aibogun before the match against Niger has vowed his team will give all they can to get the much-needed result against the Niger team.
”It’s a normal game that we could not avoid. One thing we know is that Niger is a good team,” he said at his pre-match press conference at the Seyni Kountche Stadium on Thursday.
“Against South Africa, it was difficult despite playing well but we will work hard against Niger. We will fight to win.”
Flying Eagles Goalkeeper Olawale Oremade is yet to concede at this tournament having kept another clean sheet on Friday.
With Nigeria and South Africa sealing their places on Friday, three of Africa’s flagbearers at this summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland have been known. Senegal, who play Burkina Faso in Maradi on Saturday, have already picked a ticket while Burkina Faso is eliminated after two losses in as many matches.
