Eden Hazard’s dream move to Real Madrid is under threat after the Spanish club reportedly made Neymar their top target ahead of the Chelsea ace.
Belgian superstar Hazard has developed into one of the best players in the world since joining Chelsea from Lille in 2012.
The 28-year-old has scored over 100 goals for the Blues, helping Chelsea win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and Europa League.
Despite enjoying substantial individual and collective success at Stamford Bridge, Hazard has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Real Madrid.
In an interview with French radio station RMC, which was recorded two months ago but released this week, Hazard said: ‘I know what I’m going to do. I have decided.’ But his dream move to the Bernabeu is in doubt as The Sun say Real Madrid intend to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Former Barcelona star Neymar is reportedly keen to secure a move back to La Liga after spending the last two seasons in France. Chelsea will not lose Hazard without a fight and are still in talks with the Belgium international over a new long-term deal in west London.
If Hazard does push for a move, the Blues will look to recoup £100million for his signature. They may also look to sign a Real Madrid star as part of the deal.
Hazard is enjoying another productive campaign at Chelsea with 21 goals and 12 assists to his name this season. Maurizio Sarri’s side returned to winning ways at the weekend, thumping bottom-placed Huddersfield Town 5-0, and face defending champions Manchester City on Sunday.
Having occupied second position for almost two months, City returned to the top of the table on Wednesday after securing a 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
