Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu would welcome Isco at the Camp Nou if he wanted to leave Real Madrid.
Concise News reports that The ex-Malaga player is on the periphery at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and may have to move on in the summer, which is something the Catalans will be keeping tabs on.
“If our coaches asked us for a player and they wanted to leave Madrid then, of course, we would sign them,” Bartomeu says to ‘El Partidazo’ of COPE.
“It hasn’t happened since I’ve been here, but there are no non-aggression pacts and each team wants to become more competitive.
“We would talk to Madrid about Isco.”
Despite being included in the squad to face Real Madrid, Lionel Messi remains a doubt for the game and the president admits to not knowing his current state.
“It’s a question for the coach,” he says.
“I don’t know if Leo will play and I won’t ask. Valverde has the freedom to do what he thinks is best for the team.
“All the coaches have had that freedom. I don’t have the information about whether he’ll play.”
Questions have surrounded Ernesto Valverde’s future at the club, but Bartomeu is keen for him to continue.
“He has a contract for next year and he’s happy and wants to remain,” the president said.
“I want him to stay even if we don’t win anything this season.
“Being Barcelona coach wears you down a lot but he is well placed at the club and I saw him as being more seriously last year.”
Reports have emerged Neymar wants a return to the Catalans, however, the president dismissed the reports that the Brazilian superstar had called the club in order to ask for them to offer him a Paris Saint-Germain escape.
“He has never told me that he wants to return since he left.
“Neither he nor his father have called me. We made a decision and signed [Philippe] Coutinho and [Ousmane] Dembele.
“They are younger and we’re very happy with them.”
