Nigerian champions Lobi Star lost 1-0 to visiting Wydad Casablanca in a Caf Champions League group game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday.
The only goal of the game came from a spot kick converted by Mohamed Nahiri in the 20th minute.
The Pride of Benue put up a lacklustre performance against the Moroccan side and paid dearly for it.
Consequently, the team find themselves in a tight position to qualify from Group A, as they sit in the third position with just three points, meaning they need to win all their remaining games to advance.
A crude tackle left the referee with no other choice but to point to the spot twice as the defence of the home team committed two unnecessary fouls.
The goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode saved one of the penalties.
With this result, Wydad Casablanca are back on top of the table with six points and a better goal difference than Mamelodi Sundowns, who also have six points after three matches.
