Former England international and Blues hero Joe Cole expressed his satisfaction towards the signing of Gonzola Higuain, said the player will prove himself at the club.
Gonzalo Higuain was signed during the January transfer window from Napoli on a loan deal.
The 31-year-old striker is reunited with Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge, having worked under the Italian during his spell at Napoli.
“When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself, I had to take it.
“It’s a team I’ve always liked that has a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I’ve always wanted to play in.
“I now hope I can give back that trust Chelsea has shown me out on the pitch. I can’t wait to start and I hope to adapt as soon as possible,” Higuain told Chelsea’s website.
According to Joe Cole, he is convinced the new signing will prove a big hit on Stamford Bridge.
After their thrashing at Bournemouth, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri warned Higuain needed to get match fit before fans would see his best.
But Cole told the Telegraph: “It is a very logical transfer.
“Chelsea played with a false striker and they needed a number nine and he is just that, a goalscorer.
“That’s what they need and what Higuain needs, so it suits everyone involved.”
