The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said the Super Eagles are going to the 2019 African Cup of Nations to win it.
Concise News understands that the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, said this recently.
Pinnick’s comment comes as a reaction to a statement by the team’s coach Gernot Rohr that the Super Eagles are not favourites for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Rohr had said Egypt and Morocco are the teams to beat for the continental competition.
However, Pinnick said he expects the West Africans to go for the ultimate prize at Egypt 2019.
“When you have a child and prepare him for an exam, your expectation is for the child to excel and that is the same expectation I have for the Super Eagles at the upcoming Nations Cup in Egypt,” Pinnick noted.
“I expect them to go and compete for the trophy, nothing more, nothing less.”
According to him, “My expectations are not overreaching because they are amongst the top four countries on the continent, which if they play to their best strength should guarantee them a place in the semifinals and from that position, the cup is within their reach.”
