1. NASS Workers To Begin Strike Two Days To 2019 Budget Presentation

The four-day warning strike by the National Assembly workers over unpaid allowances among other demands could affect the presentation of the 2019 Appropriation Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday. To this end, the House of Representatives has appealed to the workers to suspend the planned strike, due to commence on Monday, to allow the president present the bill to federal lawmakers.

2. Atiku, Buhari Govt Face Off Over President’s Absence At Burial Of Soldiers

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said Presidential Muhammadu Buhari’s absence at the burial of the slain soldiers in the Metele attack in Borno State is “unacceptable.” But the presidency faulted Atiku’s condemnation of Buhari. It said by visiting Borno State and the wounded soldiers, Buhari had shown enough leadership.

3. Boko Haram: Buhari Meets Other Lake Chad Basin Leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the Lake Chad Basin countries held a meeting on Saturday in Abuja, as part of efforts aimed at curtailing insurgency in the area. The leaders met on the back of recent resurgence of the Boko Haram terrorists, with scores of Nigerian soldiers losing their lives in the country’s northeast region.

Boko Haram fighters invaded Gudumbali town in Guzamala area of Borno state and killed many residents as they reportedly carted away with about five gun trucks. But the Nigerian military have not responded to this report.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), United Kingdom, has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari not to take part in the 2019 presidential debate. Reacting to the vice-presidential debate, the APC UK said Osinbajo had lectured his opponents during the debate and as such Buhari has no need to go for the presidential debate in January.

A high-ranking member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has lamented that political prostitutes and their robbers denied Ahmed Lawan senate presidency. Speaking on Saturday at the inaugural Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable organised as part of the activities marking the 69th birthday of the Oyo State Governor, Tinubu said he had no regret backing Lawan, who also attended the event, to become senate president.
