The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has approved the concession of Terminal B, Warri Old Port to Messers Ocean and Cargo Services Limited.

Concise News learned that the NPA Governing Board, led by Emmanuel Adesoye, met on Wednesday in Lagos and approved the concession.

The move is in line with port reformations by the Federal Government via the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

A statement by the NPA governing board revealed that at the end of the board meeting, the new concessionaire was gotten from seven pre-qualified bidders.

The bidders responded to a Request for Proposals by the BPE on September 27, 2017.

According to the statement, Ocean and Cargo Services Limited would operate the terminal in a concession agreement for 25 years.

“Within this period, the concessionaire would rehabilitate infrastructure at the terminal and deploy modern technological infrastructure with the aim of making the facility competitive,” the statement read.

“The development plan for the terminal will be reviewed every five years to make it responsive to changes in operations.”
